The Pure Energy USB AA/AAA Charger is a great option for charging your batteries from any USB port on on your PC, Laptop, MAC, or even in your car. Plus, it can not only charge Pure Energy Alkaline Rechargeable (RAM) Batteries, but Ni-Mh batteries too (separately, do not mix types). It takes up to 500mA max. current from the USB port. Output is 1.7V or 200mA max. It can charge up to two AA or AAA Batteries in one go. Flashing Green LED indicates charging, Solid Green Led indicates batteries are charged.
Rechargeable Alkaline (Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese, or 'RAM') Batteries are Truly Advanced batteries which can be used instead of standard disposable (non-rechargeable) Alkaline Batteries in most standard applications, but have the advantage of being Rechargeable - up to 500 times (approx. 100 times if fully discharged each time*). And because they are Full 1.5 Volt cells, they do not suffer the limitations of use of Ni-Cad or Ni-Mh rechargeable batteries, which are only 1.2Volt. Because they are rechargeable and can be used over and over again, plus the fact that they contain no Toxins or Heavy Metals (Nickel, Cadmium etc.) as Ni-Mh and Ni-Cd do, they are the GREENEST, most Environmentally Friendly batteries available!
Where can I use RAM batteries and what are the benefits?
All battery-powered equipment works best with certain types of batteries, depending on the voltage and current requirements, environment and use. No batteries suit all applications! Basically, RAM Batteries can be used wherever you would normally use standard Disposable Alkaline Batteries (not including Duracells and other high-power batteries), i.e., low-medium power items, especially electronic equipment that needs full voltage, or is used rarely. The benefit is that you can recharge them and use them over and over again, for anything from 50 to 500+ times*, depending on the type and frequency of use and frequency of recharging. RAM batteries also have a very slow self-discharge compared to Ni-Mh, which discharge very rapidly and are therefore not suitable for rarely used items. If used 100 times, the cost of each standard (full-price) RAM battery is approximately 2 pence per use, including the cost of electricity to charge them, which is negligible. Please see the Technical Specifications Page for full details.
Anywhere where standard disposable alkaline batteries are used, there is the opportunity to save money - and the environment - by using RAM batteries, but where a lot are regularly used, like in Schools, Colleges, Universities, Hospitals, Council Offices, etc., the savings can be in the hundreds or thousands of pounds. These places regularly use a lot of electronic equipment (test & monitoring equipment etc.), pagers, and other similar items that simply won't work with Ni-Mh batteries; RAM batteries are the obvious answer and we give big discounts on large quantity sales!
