Pure energy AA Batteries Pack               AA Charger Pack               AA Charger Pack
Pure Energy™ Alkaline Rechargeable (Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese, or 'RAM') Batteries are Truly Advanced Alkaline Batteries which can be used instead of standard disposable Alkaline Batteries in most standard applications. However, unlike standard Alkaline Batteries, they are FULLY Rechargeable:
  • Rechargeable between 50 and 500 times, depending on use and frequency of recharging; average expected use would be around 100 times rechargeable if fully discharged each time. How many times any particular battery can be recharged will depend on its use (discharge current and amount of use), frequency of recharging, Charging routine (how long left in charger) and environmental factors (temperature, etc.).

  • Charge time is approximately 4-8 hours using a Pure Energy EnviroCharger, depending on the level of discharge and the number of Batteries being recharged at the same time (more batteries will take longer). Very discharged batteries may take longer than this, the level of discharge depending very much on the type of equipment they have been used in.
Exactly how many times they can be re-charged will depend on the use (discharge rate and level). The more often they are re-charged (without waiting for them to go completely flat), the longer they last!. The manufacturers state 100 full charge/discharge cycles for fully discharged Batteries; re-charging before they are fully discharged will prolong their life many times over, allowing up to 500 or more charges.
And because they are full 1.5 Volt cells - the same as disposable alkaline Batteries - they do not suffer the limitations of use of NiCad or NiMh rechargeable Batteries (which are only 1.2Volt), which means they can be used in many cases where NiCd or NiMh Batteries just can't!
"Can I use these Batteries in my digital camera or remote-control car?" you may ask. Alkaline Rechargeable are not suitable for high discharge rates, such as that in many digital cameras and remote-control cars etc., especially cameras with large viewing screens (2"+) and/or high mega-pixel resolution (around 3 M-Pixel or more), but may be useable in some cameras at or below these figures. In these cases, they will give a short useable cycle, but will be rechargeable many times and may offer a large cost saving over standard disposable alkaline batteries. In some cases, your camera may not work at all, or give a low battery indication, even when the batteries are in fact fully (or nearly fully) charged. If this happens, it is because they simply cannot supply enough current to the camera (and are not designed to do so), as they are designed as a replacement for normal (medium discharge) alkaline batteries. Note, that this will vary with the exact make and model of camera. You may be able to get your camera to work with these batteries by switching the LCD screen off and just using the viewfinder (where available), but please check with you camera manufacturer for battery current rates and check against the table below, as we cannot give advice on any particular make or model.

*EnviroCharger charges up to four AA or AAA Pure Energy Alkaline Rechargeable Batteries and is supplied in all Charger and Saver packs (except USB pack). UK and EU versions differ very slightly in design, voltage and power used. Approximate charge time is 2-6 hours, depending on the level of discharge and number of Batteries being recharged at the same time. Charging may take longer than this if charging four AA Batteries together that are very discharged, or if just one is very discharged. Regular recharging is recommended before the batteries are fully discharged, as this can extend the life of the battery. Please ensure you order the right pack, as both UK (3-pin 13A) and European plug (2-pin) Chargers are now available, plus a very handy USB 2-battery combined RAM/Ni-Mh charger. UK packs are available with AA and/or AAA batteries, the EU charger is only available with four AA batteries.
RAM Batteries MUST only be charged using a RAM Battery Charger (Pure Energy EnviroCharger or USB Charger, EverCharge, ReZap, or Rayovac). Do NOT use a NiCd/NiMh only, or equipment specific/built-in Charger as this will damage the batteries and is potentially dangerous! EnviroChargers MUST only be used for charging RAM (Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese) Batteries. Please see Items List below for other suitable chargers.
